राज्यसभा के 12 सांसद निलंबित:राज्यसभा ने अपने शीतकालीन सत्र के पहले दिन सोमवार को शिवसेना सांसद प्रियंका चतुर्वेदी और तृणमूल सांसद डोला सेन सहित अपने 12 सदस्यों को मौजूदा सत्र के शेष भाग के लिए निलंबित कर दिया। सदन के मानसून सत्र में अनुशासनहीनता के आरोप में उनके खिलाफ कार्रवाई की गई है, सत्र के आखिरी दिन उच्च सदन में हंगामा हुआ. प्रियंका चतुर्वेदी और डोना सेन के अलावा सोमवार को निलंबित किए गए सांसदों में एलाराम करीम (सीपीएम), कांग्रेस की फूलो देवी नेताम, छाया वर्मा, आर बोरा, राजमणि पटेल, सैयद नासिर हुसैन, अखिलेश प्रसाद सिंह, भाकपा के बिनॉय विश्वम, टीएमसी के शांता शामिल हैं. छेत्री और शिवसेना के अनिल देसाई।

संसद के मानसून सत्र के अंतिम दिन उच्च सदन में हंगामा हुआ, जबकि विपक्षी सांसदों ने दावा किया कि उन पर मार्शलों ने हमला किया जो संसद की सुरक्षा का हिस्सा नहीं थे। हंगामे पर सरकार की रिपोर्ट में कहा गया है कि एक पुरुष मार्शल को सीपीएम सांसद एलमारन करीम ने जबकि राज्यसभा की एक महिला मार्शल पर छाया वर्मा और कांग्रेस सांसद फूलो देवी नेताम ने हमला किया था। सदन को सत्र के लिए निलंबित किए जाने के बाद रिपोर्ट राज्यसभा के सभापति को सौंपी गई।
शीतकालीन सत्र के पहले दिन जारी किए गए निलंबन नोटिस में कहा गया है: “यह सदन संज्ञान लेता है और चाय के अधिकार की पूर्ण अवहेलना की कड़ी निंदा करता है, सदन के नियमों का पूरी तरह से लगातार दुरुपयोग करता है जिससे सदन के कामकाज में जानबूझकर बाधा उत्पन्न होती है। राज्य सभा (मानसून सत्र) के 254वें सत्र (मानसून सत्र) के अंतिम दिन यानी 11 अगस्त 2021 को सुरक्षा कर्मियों पर कदाचार, अवमानना, अनियंत्रित और हिंसक व्यवहार और जानबूझकर हमले के अभूतपूर्व कृत्य, जिससे अगस्त सदन की गरिमा को कम करने और बदनामी हुई। निम्नलिखित सदस्य और संकल्प, उपरोक्त अनिवार्य कारणों से, इन सदस्यों को राज्यसभा में प्रक्रिया और कार्य संचालन के नियमों के नियम 256 के तहत 255 वें सत्र के शेष के लिए सदन की सेवा से निलंबित करने का संकल्प लेते हैं।”
