एसएस न्यूज.दुबई। छह बार की विश्व चैंपियन एमसी मेरीकोम (51 किग्रा) ने गुरुवार को यहां मंगोलिया की लुतसेइखान अलतांतसेतसेग को कड़े मुकाबले में हराकर एशियाई मुक्केबाजी चैंपियनशिप के फाइनल में प्रवेश किया। मेरीकोम ने खंडित फैसले में मंगोलियाई मुक्केबाज को 4-1 से हराया। मोनिका (48 किग्रा) को हालांकि सेमीफाइनल में कजाखस्तान की दूसरी वरीय अलुआ बाल्किबेकोवा के खिलाफ एकतरफा मुकाबले में 0-5 की शिकस्त के साथ कांस्य पदक से संतोष करना पड़ा।
शीर्ष वरीय 38 साल की मेरीकोम ने अपने अनुभव का पूरा फायदा उठाते हुए अलतांतसेतसेग के खिलाफ दबदबा बनाया। मुकाबले के दौरान मेरीकोम के दायें हाथ से लगाए मुक्के काफी प्रभावी रहे। मेरीकोम की नजरें इस महाद्वीपीय प्रतियोगिता में छठे स्वर्ण पदक पर टिकी हैं। इससे पहले मोनिका दूसरी वरीय बाल्किबेकोवा की तेजी का जवाब नहीं दे पाई। बाल्किबेकोवा ने मोनिका के हमलों को आसानी से नाकाम किया और अपने ताबड़तोड़ मुक्कों ने भारतीय खिलाड़ी को पछाड़ा।
ओलंपिक के लिए क्वालीफाई कर चुके आशीष कुमार (75 किग्रा) को भी बुधवार रात एशियाई खेलों के रजत पदक विजेता कजाखस्तान के आबिलखान अमानकुल के खिलाफ 2-3 से शिकस्त झेलनी पड़ी थी। नरेंदर (प्लस91 किग्रा) को भी क्वार्टर फाइनल में कजाखस्तान के कामशिबेक कुनकाबायेव के खिलाफ 0-5 से शिकस्त झेलनी पड़ी। शुक्रवार को पांच भारतीय पुरुष मुक्केबाज अमित पंघाल (52 किग्रा), वरिंदर सिंह (60 किग्रा), शिव थापा (64 किग्रा), विकास कृष्ण (69 किग्रा) और संजीत (91 किग्रा) सेमीफाइनल मुकाबले में उतरेंगे। इनमें से पंघाल और विकास ओलंपिक में जगह बना चुके हैं।
