सिद्ध पीठ सतकुंभा तीर्थ के प्रबंधक सूरज शास्त्री ने कहा कि सोमवती अमावस्या का हिन्दुओं में खास महत्व है। ऐसा मानते हैं कि महाभारत के युद्ध के बाद पांडवों ने अपने पित्तरों की तर्पण के लिए गांव पांडू-पिंडारा के सोम तीर्थ पर 12 साल तक सोमवती अमावस्या का इंतजार किया लेकिन सोमवती अमावस्या नहीं आई। ऐसा माना जाता है कि तभी पांडवों ने श्राप दिया था कि कलयुग में सोमवती अमावस्या बार-बार आएगी। ऐसे में सोमवती अमावस्या के दिन देश भर से श्रद्धालु तीर्थो पर जहां पांडू-पिंडारा पहुंचते हैं, वहीं सप्तऋषियों की तप स्थली सिद्धपीठ सतकुंभा धाम पर भी आते हैं।

सोमवती अमावस्या और 13 अप्रैल से नव रात्र आरंभ हो रहे हैं यह पुनित कार्य पूजा के लिए खास है अभी हरिद्वार में महाकुंभ चल रहा है जो श्रद्धालु वहां नहीं जा पाए, वे यहां सतकुंभा पर आए, उन्होंने प्रार्थना की, उनको इसका उतना पूण्य लगा जितना महाकुंभ में लगता। सेवा करने में प्रधान सेठपाल छौक्कर, पवन शास्त्री, सोमवीर शास्त्री, अमित, सुमित आदि समर्पित सेवा में लगे रहे।
