शहर में चलाई जा रही ताइक्वांडो एवं कुश्ती एकेडमी में खिलाडिय़ों से मुलाकात कर युवा समाजसेवी एवं कांग्रेस नेता निखिल मदान ने खिलाडिय़ों का हौंसला बढ़ाया। इस अवसर पर कृष्णा चैरिटेबल सोसाइटी के माध्यम से एकेडमी में प्रशिक्षण ले रही महिला खिलाडिय़ों एवं पुरुष कुश्ती खिलाडिय़ों को साइकिल भेंट की गई। कार्यक्रम में खिलाडिय़ों से मुखातिब होते हुए निखिल मदान ने कहा कि देश में क्रिकेट से अलग दूसरे खेलों को भी महत्व दिया जाना चाहिए, ताकि उन खेलों से देश में खिलाड़ी पदक ला सके।
मदान ने बताया कि ताइक्वांडो एवं कुश्ती ओलंपिक खेलों का भी हिस्सा है। इसलिए सरकार को भी इस तरफ ज्यादा ध्यान देना चाहिए। गैर पारंपरिक खेलों में सरकार की उदासीनता के चलते आज विश्व पटल पर भारत ओलंपिक खेलों में काफी पीछे है। इस दौरान निखिल मदान ने सभी खिलाडिय़ों से परिचय किया और उनकी हरसंभव मदद का आश्वासन दिया। मदान ने बताया कि अगर सरकार खिलाडिय़ों को मूलभूत सुविधाएं प्रदान करे तो निश्चित तौर पर ओलंपिक खेलों में पदकों की संख्या बढ़ सकती है।
उन्होंने बताया कि वो सोनीपत शहर के हर खेल मैदान में जाकर वहां की सुविधाओं और व्यवस्थाओं का जायजा ले रहे है और निजी तौर पर हरसंभव मदद कर रहे हैं। हॉकी, एथलेटिक्स और अन्य सभी मैदानों में जाकर लगभग हर खिलाड़ी को सोसाइटी द्वारा स्पोर्ट्स किट प्रदान की जा चुकी है। कार्यक्रम में कोच अजय दहिया, रवि कुमार, राजेश सैनी, रविंद्र कुमार, सोमवीर, महिला कोच पिंकी, दिनेश हुड्डा, संदीप मलिक, अशोक गर्ग, बलबीर, चिराग आदि लोग मौजूद रहे।
