अंतरराष्ट्रीय महिला दिवस को 8 मार्च मनाने की शुरूआत 1900 में हुई थी। वर्ष 1908 में न्यूयार्क की एक कपड़ा मिल में काम करने वाली करीब 15 हजार महिलाओं ने काम के घंटे कम करने, बेहतर तनख्वाह और वोट का अधिकार देने के लिए प्रदर्शन किया था। 1909 में अमेरिका की ही सोशलिस्ट पार्टी ने पहली बार नेशनल वुमन-डे मनाया था।
महिला दिवस विशेष: सबसे पहले तो यह जान लें कि पैर की जूती नहीं सिर का ताज है नारी। नारी सृष्टि का सृजन करती है। नारी संस्कार देती है। नारी पालन पोषण करती है। नारी दिव्य गुणों से अलंकृत है। नारी देवी का रुप है। नारी अन्नापूर्णा है। नारी ज्ञान का सागर है। नारी ममता का आंचल देती है। नारी सुखदायानी है। नारी वरदायिनी है। वास्तव में नारी ब्रह्मांड की स्वामनी है। नारी मां सरस्वती का रुप है। नारी मां लक्ष्मी का स्वरुप है इसीलिए इसको घर लक्ष्मी कहते हैं। पूरे ब्रह्मांड में मां शक्ति का स्वरुप भगवान से भी ऊंचा माना गया। खुद भगवान अवतार लेने वाले कहते हैं मां का दर्जा भगवान से ऊंचा।
पहली बार नेशनल वुमन-डे अमेरीका में मनाया

वर्ष 1910 में डेनमार्क के कोपेनहेगन में कामकाजी महिलाओं की अंतरराष्ट्रीय कॉन्फ्रेंस की यहां पर अंतरराष्ट्रीय महिला दिवस मनाने का फैसला हुआ तब 19 मार्च 1911 में पहली बार अंतरराष्ट्रीय महिला दिवस मनाया गया। सशक्तिकरण का रूप देने के लिए ऑस्ट्रिया, डेनमार्क, जर्मनी और स्विट्जरलैंड में महिलाओं ने रैली निकाली थी। वर्ष 1913 में महिला दिवस को 8 मार्च के लिए तय कर दिया गया।
भारत में प्रथम महिलाओं के बारे जानते हैं
भारत देश की पहली महिला राष्ट्रपति प्रतिभा पाटिल, पहली महिला प्रधानमंत्री इंदिरा गांधी, पहली महिला आईपीएस किरण बेदी, पहली राज्यपाल सरोजनी नायडू, पहली अर्जुन अवार्डी महिला हॉकी खिलाड़ी स्टेफी डिसूजा, उत्तर प्रदेश में पहली महिला मुख्यमंत्री सुचेता कृपलानी, पहली चीफ जस्टिस फातिमा बीवी, पहली महिला रेल चालक सुरेखा यादव, भारतीय सेना में पहली सैन्य नर्सिंग सेवा अधिकारी मेजर जनरल गर्ट्रूड ऐलिस राम, पहली महिला खिलाड़ी पद्म श्री आरती गुप्ता साह, पहली महिला आंतरिक्ष यात्री कल्पना चावला, पहली भारत रत्न महिला सिंगर एमएस सुब्बुलक्ष्मी, दादा साहब फाल्के पुरस्कार लेने वाली पहली अभिनेत्री देविका रानी, सबसे ज्यादा प्रसिद्ध महिला गायिका भारत रत्न लता मंगेशकर ऐसे बहुत से उदाहरण हमारे सामने हैं जो नारी शक्ति के प्रति ध्यान आकर्षित करते हैं।
महिलाओं को अधिकार दिलाने के लिए
इन नारियों के नाम यहां इसलिए लिये गए कि हमें मालूम होना चाहिए कि हम नारी के बारे में हल्का ना सोचें यह जान लें कि नारी ने खेल में, राजनीति में, शिक्षा में, रेल चलाने में सेना में मतलब कि हर क्षेत्र में अपनी पहचान बनाई है।
भारत में महिलाओं को उनके अधिकार दिलाने के लिए राजा राममोहन राय, केशव चन्द्र सेन, ईश्वर चन्द्र विद्यासागर एवं स्वामी विवेकानन्द जैसे महापुरुषों ने सकारात्मक पहल की। महिला सशक्तिकरण की राह में गैर सरकारी संगठनों के प्रयासों को देखेंे तो जमीनी हकीकत यह है कि विदेशों में महिलाएं सशक्तिकरण पर हैं, वहां उनके साथ होने वाले यौनिक अत्याचारों में कमी नहीं आई है विदेशों में महिलाओं का शोषण ज्यादा हुआ और वर्तमान में भी होता है।
नारी को सम्मान देने की जरुरत
नारी मातृत्व की देवी, पुरुष की पूरक है। नारी को सम्मान देने की जरुरत है। घर की चारदीवारी में इज्जत के नाम पर बंद करके रखते हैं। नारी इस बात को लेकर चिंतित हैं कि उनकी इज्जत खतरे में है।
पर्दा, बुरके महिलाओं के लिए बंधक
आधुनिक युग में हम इसकी आधी आबादी के विषय में चिंता हैं। अंतरराष्ट्रीय महिला दिवस को अलग अलग मंचों पर मनाते हैं, परिसंवाद, गोष्ठियां, चिंतन और विचार विमर्श करते हैं। नारी की स्वतंत्रता पर भाषण होते हैं जिन शब्दों को नारी के लिए बोला जा रहा है वह शब्द अपना अर्थ और गौरव दोनो बेमानी हो गये हैं। मुस्लिम बहुल क्षेत्रों में महिलाओं का दुनिया में सबसे ज्यादा शोषण विशेष कर मुस्लिम राष्ट्रों में ही होता है। पर्दा, बुरके महिलाओं के लिए बंधक बनाने के लिए प्रयोग हो रहा है। महिलाओं के लिए तुगलकी फरमान जारी किये जाते हैं कहर बरपाया जाता है।
महिलाओं के शोषण की दास्तां ऐसी
भारत देश की हम बात करें तो यहां महिलाओं ने अपनी शक्ति का लोहा मनवाया इंदिरा गांधी, सोनिया गांधी, मायावती, ममता बनर्जी, मीरा कुमार आदि राजनीति के क्षेत्र में सक्रिय रही तो वहीं महिलाओं का सबसे अच्छा कार्य मनोरंजन जगत में दिखता है जहां वाकई महिलाएं आगे जा रही हैं। महिलाओं के शोषण की दास्तां ऐसी मिलती है कि महिलाएं अपने घरों में ही सुरक्षित नहीं हैं।

दुनिया में अंतर्राष्ट्रीय महिला दिवस, महिलाओं के समाज का एक महत्वपूर्ण और आवश्यक भाग होने और मान्यता के लिए आवाज का जश्न है। इरोम शर्मीला पिछले एक दशक से भूख हड़ताल पर है। जिसने हत्या कि वकालत करने वाले क़ानून का विरोध गांधी के अंदाज में किया और यह भूल गयी कि यह देश अब गांधी का देश नहीं है, अब नार्थ ईस्ट की वे महिलाएं नंगे बदन इन्डियन आर्मी रेप मी, रेप मी बोलते हुए सड़कों पर उतर आयीं।
महिलाओं के अस्तित्व को पहचाने
अंतर्राष्ट्रीय महिला दिवस हर साल मनाते आए हैं। एक बार फिर हम महिलाओं के अस्तित्व को पहचानने की कोशिश करेंगे। एक दिन महिला सम्मान की बातें करने से महिला सम्मान की सुरक्षा संभव है। हमें जरूरत इस बात की है कि महिलाएं ख़ुद अपने अस्तित्व की रक्षा करें खुुद की ताकत को पहचानें। इस देश में नारी को श्रद्धा, देवी, अबला जैसे संज्ञा और विशेषणांे से अलंकृत किया। नारी को देवी मानकर पूजते हैं या भोग विलास की वस्तु मानते हैं।
मातृ सत्ता का नाम है नारी
नारी तो एक शक्ति का रूप है, नारी मातृ सत्ता का नाम है नारी तो सुखदायिनी, वरदायिनी, जन्म दात्री है जो हमें जन्म देकर हमारा पालन पोषण करती है। हमें अनमोल जीवन देती है। संस्कार देती है। आधुनिक शिक्षा और देश की स्वतंत्रता में नारी को घर की चारदीवारी से बाहर निकलने जरुरत है, इस शिक्षा को ग्रामीण इलाकों की महिलाएं जागरुक हों अपने अधिकारों के प्रति जागरूक हो सकें।
हर युग में महिला ने पुरुष का साथ दिया
किसी भी कालखंड़ ये नहीं मिलेगा जहां नारी का किसी नव निर्माण में कोई सहयोग नहीं रहा हो, वैदिक युग की बात करें तो आर्यावर्त जैसे महान राष्ट्र के निर्माण की परिकल्पना में निश्चय ही गार्गी, मैत्रयी, अरूधंती जैसी महान नारियों ने योगदान दिया है। पौराणिक काल में महाराजा दशरथ के युद्ध के समय कैकयी द्वारा रथ के पहिये के टूट जाने पर अपने हाथ को धुरी की जगह रखकर दशरथ को युद्ध जीताना भी तो राष्ट्र रक्षा, सेवा और निर्माण है। इसके तो मध्य काल में भी कई उदाहरण हैं इन नामों को भी देख लें रजिया सुल्तान, चांद बीबी, झांसी की रानी, लक्ष्मीबाई, अहिल्या बाई, इनके अलावा कुछ नारियेां का स्मरण कर लेते हैं वो सरोजनी नायडू, अरूणा आसफ अली, विजय लक्ष्मी, आजाद हिंद फौज में पलटन का नेतृत्व करने वाली लक्ष्मी तथा क्रांतिकारियों की सहयोगी नारियों की लंबी सूची है जिन्होने देश निर्माण के लिए अपना सर्वस्व समर्पित कर दिया।
