वेद चार हैं - ऋग्वेद , यजुर्वेद , सामवेद और अथर्ववेद । चारों वेद चार ऋषियों के हृदय मे मैं एक एक साथ प्रकट हुए । ऋषियो ने वेद की रचना नहीं की । यह ज्ञान तो परमात्मा ने अपनी करुण कृपा से उनके हृदय में उँड़ेल दिया था ।
चारों वेद प्रथम दर्शनी प्रस्तावना
वेद सृष्टि के आदि में परमात्मा द्वारा दिया गया दिव्य अनुपम ज्ञान हैं। वेद सार्वभौमिक और सार्वकालीन है। सृष्टी बन गई तो इसमें रहने का कुछ विधान भी होगा उसी विधान का नाम है वेद।
वेद चार हैं – ऋग्वेद, यजुर्वेद, सामवेद और अथर्ववेद। चारों वेद चार ऋषियों के हृदय मे एक-एक साथ प्रकट हुए । ऋषियो ने वेद की रचना नहीं की। यह ज्ञान तो परमात्मा ने अपनी करुण कृपा से उनके हृदय में उँड़ेल दिया था।
वेद का ज्ञान सृष्टि के आदि में परमात्मा ने अग्नि, वायु, आदित्य और अंगिरा ऋषि इन चारों ऋषियों के हृदय मे प्रगट किया। उन्होंने आगे वालों को पढ़ाया। उन्होंने अपने आगे वालों को पढ़ाया और इस प्रकार आगे से आगे यह हम तक पहुचा। इसलिए वेद को श्रृति कहा गया है। जब कागज का अविष्कार हुआ तो विधिवत उसका प्रकाशन हुआ।
ऋग्वेद ज्ञान कांड हैं । यजुर्वेद कर्मकांड है। सामवेद उपासना कांड हैं । अथर्ववेद विज्ञान कांड है। ऋग्वेद मस्तिक का वेद है। यजुर्वेद हाथों का वेद है। सामवेद हृदय का वेद है और अथर्ववेद उदर = पेट का वेद है।
वेद ईश्वर का वह दिव्य ज्ञान है जिसके अनुसार आचरण करने से मनुष्य लौकिक और परलौकिक दोनों प्रकार के सुख प्राप्त कर सकता है । वेद ज्ञान और विज्ञान के भंडार है। जो कुछ वेद मे हैं वही अत्यत्र है । जो वेद में नहीं है वह कहीं भी नहीं है। वेद अपने ज्ञान के कारण स्वयं देदीप्यमान है। वेद की शिक्षाएं अनोखी और उदात है। सारे संसार के साहित्य में को पढ जाए जो ज्ञान विज्ञान वेदो में है वो सारे संसार के साहित्य में कहीं भी नहीं मिलेगा।
वेद का प्रत्येक मंत्र जहां परमात्मा का प्रतिपादन करता है वहां जीवन के रहस्यो को भी खोलता है। वेद मनुष्य को निरंतर आगे बढ़ने ऊपर उठने और उन्नति करने का संदेश और उपदेश देते हैं। वेद के शब्दों में ऐसा जादू है जिससे गिरते हुए मनुष्य को गिरने से बचाता है और गिरे हुए को उठाता है।
हे ! मनुष्यो सबसे बडी बात तो यह है की वेद पढने पढाने सुनने सुनाने का अधिकार मनुष्य मात्र को है। हमारे सनातन काल से यह परम्परा चालू है अत: हमे भी इस परम्परा का निर्वहन कर अपना कर्तव्य निभाना चाहिए।
भगवान् राम क्षत्रिय थे। योगीराज कृष्ण वेश्य (कृषक) थे फिर भी उन्होने गुरु वशिष्ठ और संदीपन आश्रम मे जाकर वेद उपनिषद पढे थे। इसलिए भगवान् राम मर्यादा पुरूषोतम और भगवान कृष्ण योगीराज बने। अत: हमे भी वेद पढकर मर्यादा पुरूषोतम और योगीराज बनने का सदप्रयास करना चाहिए।

यह चारो वेदो की प्रथम दर्शनी जानकारी है, अधिक जानने के लिए पुरे ग्रन्थों का अध्ययन करना चाहिए।
