चण्डीगढ़: हरियाणा के मुख्यमंत्री मनोहर लाल ने कहा है कि हरियाणा का लाल नीरज चोपड़ा देश का गौरव है। मुख्यमंत्री ने आज यहां अपने आवास पर मुलाकात के लिए पहुंचे ओलंपिक स्वर्ण पदक विजेता नीरज चोपड़ा से मुलाकात के दौरान यह बात कही। इस दौरान हरियाणा के खेल राज्य मंत्री सरदार सन्दीप सिंह भी मौजूद रहे।
मुख्यमंत्री ने कहा कि नीरज चोपड़ा ने देश के साथ-साथ हरियाणा ही नहीं अपने गांव और परिवार का भी नाम रोशन किया है। नीरज की इस उपलब्धि में परिवार का बड़ा योगदान है। परिवार के योगदान के परिणामस्वरूप ही नीरज ने देश का गौरव बढ़ाने का काम किया। मुलाकात के दौरान मुख्यमंत्री ने नीरज से लंबी बातचीत की और उनके अनुभवों के बारे में जाना। उनके कोच, भाला फेंक के राष्ट्रीय रिकॉर्ड और अंतरराष्ट्रीय रिकॉर्ड को लेकर भी चर्चा हुई।

हरियाणा को खेलों का हब बनाना लक्ष्य
नीरज चोपड़ा से मुलाकात के बाद पत्रकारों से बातचीत के दौरान मुख्यमंत्री श्री मनोहर लाल ने कहा कि हमारा लक्ष्य हरियाणा को खेलों का हब बनाना है। इसके लिए नीरज चोपड़ा जैसे होनहार खिलाड़ी युवा पीढ़ी को प्रेरित करने का काम करेंगे ही। एक प्रश्न के उत्तर में उन्होंने कहा कि अन्य खिलाडिय़ों के गांव वालों से भी मिलना हुआ है और उन्होंने भी खेलों को बढ़ावा देने के लिए अच्छे सुझाव दिए हैं। खेलों को बढ़ावा देने के लिए सरकार द्वारा आवश्यक सुविधाएं उपलब्ध कराई जाएंगी। उन्होंने कहा कि पंचकूला में एथलेटिक्स के लिए स्थापित किये जा रहे उत्कृष्टता केंद्र खेलों के बढ़ावे के लिए कारगर साबित होगा।
सम्मान समारोह में न पहुंच पाने का मलाल – नीरज
गोल्डन बॉय नीरज चोपड़ा ने कहा कि 13 अगस्त को हरियाणा सरकार की तरफ से आयोजित सम्मान समारोह में बीमार होने के कारण नहीं पहुंच पाया था। उक्त कार्यक्रम में शामिल न हो पाने का मलाल है।
उन्होंने महिला हॉकी खिलाडिय़ों को विशेष तौर पर सम्मानित करने के फैसले के लिए मुख्यमंत्री को धन्यवाद दिया।
नीरज ने एक प्रश्न के उत्तर में कहा कि प्रधानमन्त्री जी और मुख्यमंत्री जी से मुलाकात में केवल खेलों पर ही बात हुई। उन्होंने कहा कि आज मुख्यमंत्री जी से मुलाकात के बाद बेहद अच्छा लग रहा है। उन्होंने कहा कि वे आने वाले समय में अपना सर्वश्रेष्ठ प्रदर्शन करेंगे। एक अन्य प्रश्न के उत्तर में उन्होंने कहा कि हरियाणा का चूरमा तो सब जगह प्रसिद्ध है।
इस दौरान खेल एवं युवा मामले विभाग के प्रधान सचिव एके सिंह, मुख्यमंत्री के अतिरिक्त प्रधान सचिव तथा सूचना, जनसम्पर्क एवं भाषा विभाग के महानिदेशक डॉ.अमित अग्रवाल, एडीजीपी सीआईडी आलोक मित्तल, खेल विभाग के निदेशक पंकज नैन सहित खेल विभाग के कई वरिष्ठ अधिकारी उपस्थित रहे।
