केंद्रीय प्रदूषण नियंत्रण बोर्ड (सीपीसीबी) के अनुसार, दिल्ली-एनसीआर में फेफड़ों को नुकसान पहुंचाने वाले सूक्ष्म कणों की 24 घंटे की औसत सांद्रता, जिसे पीएम 2.5 के रूप में जाना जाता है, गुरुवार (दिवाली के दिन) शाम 6 बजे 243 माइक्रोग्राम प्रति क्यूबिक मीटर से बढ़कर 24 घंटे हो गई। शुक्रवार को सुबह 9 बजे 410 माइक्रोग्राम प्रति क्यूबिक मीटर, 60 माइक्रोग्राम प्रति क्यूबिक मीटर की सुरक्षित सीमा का लगभग सात गुना। पीएम10 का स्तर शुक्रवार सुबह करीब 5 बजे 500 माइक्रोग्राम प्रति क्यूबिक मीटर को पार कर गया और सुबह 9 बजे 511 माइक्रोग्राम प्रति क्यूबिक मीटर रहा।

अधिकारियों को वापस बुलाने पर अग्निशमन विभाग ने पिछले साल दिवाली पर 205 आग से संबंधित कॉलों का जवाब दिया था। दमकल अधिकारियों के अनुसार, पिछले दो दिनों से करीब 3,000 दमकल कर्मी ड्यूटी पर थे और दिल्ली दमकल सेवा की टीमों को किसी भी घटना से निपटने के लिए राजधानी भर में 30 से अधिक विशिष्ट स्थानों पर तैनात किया गया था। बारा टूटी चौक, तिलक नगर, लाजपत नगर (सेंट्रल मार्केट), लाल कुआं चौक, लाहौरी गेट, नांगलोई, साउथ एक्सटेंशन, सोनिया विहार, महरौली, घिटोरनी मेट्रो स्टेशन सहित राष्ट्रीय राजधानी में 22 स्थानों पर दमकल गाड़ियों को तैनात किया गया था।
एक वरिष्ठ अग्निशमन अधिकारी ने बताया कि अंबेडकर नगर, कापसहेड़ा, चांदनी चौक, सब्जी मंडी, घंटा घर, पहाड़गंज, शीला सिनेमा और शादीपुर डिपो सहित छह अन्य स्थानों पर सड़कों और संकरी गलियों में अग्निशमन उपकरणों से लैस मोटरसाइकिलें भी तैनात की गई हैं। उन्होंने कहा कि कनॉट सर्कस, हरि नगर, गीता कॉलोनी, जे रोड और पश्चिम विहार सहित अन्य छह स्थानों की गलियों में अग्निशमन वाहनों का एक अन्य सेट भी तैनात किया गया था।
