1947: पहला केंद्रीय बजट
स्वतंत्र भारत का पहला केंद्रीय बजट आरके षणमुखम चेट्टी द्वारा 26 नवंबर, 1947 को ब्रिटिश शासन के अंत के तीन महीने बाद पेश किया गया था।
पहला संयुक्त-भारत बजट
1949-50 में, जॉन मथाई ने वित्त मंत्री के रूप में षणमुखम चेट्टी का स्थान लिया और पूर्व रियासतों के वित्तीय विवरणों सहित पहला संयुक्त-भारत बजट पेश किया।
एक मंत्री द्वारा अधिकतम केंद्रीय बजट
पूर्व वित्त मंत्री मोरारजी देसाई ने 1959 से 1969 के बीच रिकॉर्ड 10 बार बजट पेश किया।
केंद्रीय बजट पेश करने वाली पहली महिला
इंदिरा गांधी 1970 में केंद्रीय बजट पेश करने वाली पहली महिला वित्त मंत्री थीं। तत्कालीन प्रधान मंत्री के पास वित्त विभाग भी था।
हिंदी में बजट की छपाई
1955 तक, केंद्रीय बजट अंग्रेजी में छपा था। तब कांग्रेस ने बजट दस्तावेजों को हिंदी और अंग्रेजी दोनों में छापने का फैसला किया।
बजट का मुद्रण
बजट दस्तावेजों की छपाई शुरू में राष्ट्रपति भवन में की गई थी। लेकिन 1950 में कुछ दस्तावेज लीक होने के बाद, सरकार ने प्रिंटिंग को मिंटो रोड, नई दिल्ली में एक प्रेस में स्थानांतरित कर दिया। 1980 में, प्रिंटिंग को नॉर्थ ब्लॉक में एक सरकारी प्रेस में स्थानांतरित कर दिया गया था।
रेल बजट का विलय
केंद्रीय बजट पेश होने से एक दिन पहले रेल बजट अलग से पेश किया जाता था। 2017 में, नरेंद्र मोदी सरकार ने इसे केंद्रीय बजट में विलय कर दिया।
सबसे लंबा बजट भाषण
वित्त मंत्री निर्मला सीतारमण का 2020 का बजट भाषण दो घंटे 40 मिनट तक चला, जिसे एक रिकॉर्ड माना जाता है।
