अभिनेत्री ने अधिवक्ता मधुकर दलवी के माध्यम से दंड प्रक्रिया संहिता की धारा 239 (पुलिस रिपोर्ट और दस्तावेजों पर विचार करने के बाद छुट्टी) और धारा 245 (सबूत पर विचार करने के बाद छुट्टी) के तहत आरोपमुक्त करने के लिए दायर किया था।
