श्रीलंका/जीजेडी न्यूज: श्रीलंका के राष्ट्रपति गोतबाया राजपक्षे शनिवार को कथित तौर पर कोलंबो की राजधानी शहर में घर को घेरकर अपने आधिकारिक आवास से भाग गए। इस साल संकटग्रस्त देश में सबसे बड़े सरकार विरोधी मार्च में से एक के लिए एकत्र हुए हजारों लोगों को नियंत्रित करने के लिए श्रीलंकाई पुलिस द्वारा वाणिज्यिक राजधानी में प्रदर्शनकारियों पर आंसू गैस के गोले दागने के कुछ ही समय बाद घटनाक्रम की सूचना मिली।

औपनिवेशिक युग की सफ़ेद धुली हुई इमारत के बाहर के मैदानों में सैकड़ों लोग मिल गए। कोई सुरक्षा अधिकारी नजर नहीं आया। अस्पताल के सूत्रों ने रायटर को बताया कि चल रहे विरोध प्रदर्शन में दो पुलिस सहित कम से कम 21 लोग घायल हो गए और उन्हें अस्पताल में भर्ती कराया गया।

आर्थिक बर्बादी से बचाने में सरकार की नाकामी को लेकर कोलंबो की सड़कों पर प्रदर्शन करने के लिए पूरे द्वीप देश से करोड़ों लोग बसों, ट्रेनों और ट्रकों में लदे हुए थे। प्रदर्शनकारियों ने काले और राष्ट्रीय झंडे लहराए और राष्ट्रपति के नाम के एक सामान्य संक्षिप्त संस्करण का उपयोग करते हुए “घर जाओ” के नारे लगाए।
