आज डरबन की एक अदालत ने राष्ट्रपिता महात्मा गांधी की पड़पोती को 60 लाख रैंड की धोखाधड़ी और जालसाजी के मामले में सात साल की कैद की सजा सुनाई है। महात्मा गांधी की पड़पोती आशीष लता रामगोबिन (56) को सोमवार को अदालत ने यह सजा सुनाई। उन पर उद्योगपति एसआर महाराज के साथ धोखाधड़ी करने का आरोप था।
एसएस न्यूज.जोहानिसबर्ग। आज डरबन की एक अदालत ने राष्ट्रपिता महात्मा गांधी की पड़पोती को 60 लाख रैंड की धोखाधड़ी और जालसाजी के मामले में सात साल की कैद की सजा सुनाई है। महात्मा गांधी की पड़पोती आशीष लता रामगोबिन (56) को सोमवार को अदालत ने यह सजा सुनाई। उन पर उद्योगपति एसआर महाराज के साथ धोखाधड़ी करने का आरोप था। महाराज ने उन्हें कथित रूप से भारत से एक ऐसी खेप के आयात और सीमाशुल्क कर के समाशोधन के लिए 62 लाख रैंड दिये थे जिसका कोई अस्तित्व नहीं था। इसमें उन्हें लाभ का एक हिस्सा देने का वादा किया गया था।
आपको बता दें कि लता रामगोबिन जानी मानी मानवाधिकार कार्यकर्ता इला गांधी और दिवंगत मेवा रामगोबिंद की बेटी हैं। साल 2015 में जब लता रामगोबिन के खिलाफ यह सुनवाई शुरू हुई थी तब राष्ट्रीय अभियोजन प्राधिकरण (एनपीए) के ब्रिगेडियर हंगवानी मूलौदजी ने कहा था कि उन्होंने संभावित निवेशकों को यकीन दिलाने के लिए कथित रूप से दस्तावेज और फर्जी चालान दिये थे कि भारत से लिनेन के तीन कंटेनर आ रहे हैं।
इस वक्त लता को 50,000 रैंड की जमानत राशि पर रिहा कर दिया गया था। सोमवार को सुनवाई के दौरान अदालत को सूचित किया गया कि लता रामगोबिन ने ‘न्यू अफ्रीका अलायंस फुटवेयर डिस्ट्रीब्यूटर्स’ के निदेशक महाराज से अगस्त 2015 में मुलाकात की थी। कंपनी कपड़ों, लिनेन और जूते-चप्पलों का आयात, निर्माण और बिक्री करती है। महाराज की कंपनी लाभांश के आधार पर अन्य कंपनियों को वित्तीय मदद भी मुहैया कराती है.
लता ने महाराज से कहा था कि उन्होंने ‘साउथ अफ्रीकन हॉस्पिटल ग्रुप नेट केयर’ के लिए लिनेन के तीन कंटेनर मंगाये हैं। लता के परिवार और नेट केयर के दस्तावेज के कारण महाराज ने कर्ज के लिए उनसे लिखित समझौत कर लिया। बाद में जब उन्हें फर्जीवाड़े का पता चला तो उन्होंने लता के खिलाफ आपराधिक मामला दर्ज कराया।
