कश्मीर के पुलिस प्रमुख (आईजीपी) विजय कुमार ने कहा कि इश्फाक डार उर्फ अबू अकरम 2017 से इस क्षेत्र में सक्रिय लश्कर के शीर्ष आतंकवादियों में से एक था और पुलिस, सेना और केंद्रीय रिजर्व पुलिस बल (सीआरपीएफ) के संयुक्त अभियान में उसे निष्प्रभावी कर दिया गया था।सुरक्षा बलों को वहां आतंकवादियों की मौजूदगी की सूचना मिलने के बाद रविवार को शोपियां के चेक सादिक खान इलाके में संयुक्त अभियान शुरू किया गया.

पुलिस ने कहा कि दोनों आतंकवादी विभिन्न घटनाओं में शामिल थे और इश्फाक एक सूचीबद्ध आतंकवादी था। उन्होंने बताया कि मुठभेड़ स्थल से दो एके-47 राइफल और आठ मैगजीन बरामद की गई हैं। शुक्रवार को श्रीनगर में पुलिसकर्मियों और नागरिकों की हत्या में शामिल माने जाने वाले दो आतंकवादियों को सुरक्षा बलों ने श्रीनगर के दानमार इलाके की आलमदार कॉलोनी में मार गिराया।आईजी कुमार ने कहा कि इस साल जनवरी से अब तक कश्मीर में कुछ शीर्ष कमांडरों सहित 82 आतंकवादी मारे गए हैं।
