जिला के गांव घरोड़ा के मूल निवासी व मौजूदा समय में सेक्टर-21सी की नालंदा सोसायटी के रहने वाले लेफ्टिनेंट कर्नल ऋषभ शर्मा का बुधवार सुबह पटेल चौक स्थित श्मशान घाट में राजकीय सम्मान के साथ अंतिम संस्कार कर दिया गया। लेफ्टिनेंट कर्नल ऋषभ शर्मा भारतीय वायुसेना में पायलेट थे और उन्होंने साथी पायलेट के साथ सोमवार 25 जनवरी की शाम को पठानकोट एयरबेस से अपने विमान में उड़ान भरी थी। जम्मू-कश्मीर के लखनपुर में मौसम खराब होने के कारण उनका विमान दुर्घटनाग्रस्त हो गया। हादसे में दोनों पायलट गंभीर रूप से घायल हो गये थे। अस्पताल पंहुचने पर लेफ्टिनेंट कर्नल ऋषभ शर्मा को मृत घोषित कर दिया गया था। मंगलवार देर सांय उनका पार्थिव शरीर उनके घर पहुंचा था। उनकी आयु महज 36 वर्ष की थी। ऋषभ अपने पीछे एक तीन साल का बेटा, पत्नी और बूढ़े मां-बाप छोड़ गये है।
बुधवार सुबह उनका अंतिम संस्कार पटेल चौक स्थित स्वर्ग आश्रम में राजकीय सम्मान के साथ किया गया। अंतिम संस्कार में केंद्रीय सामाजिक न्याय एवं आधिकारिकता राज्य मंत्री कृष्णपाल गुर्जर, विधायक सीमा त्रिखा, भाजपा नेता टीपर चंद शर्मा सहित हजारों लोग अंतिम यात्रा में शामिल हुए और श्रद्धांजलि दी। वहीँ शहीद लेफ्टिनेंट कर्नल ऋषभ शर्मा को श्रद्धांजलि देने पहुंचे केंद्रीय मंत्री कृष्णपाल गुर्जर ने कहा कि उन्होंने देश की सुरक्षा और रक्षा करते हुए अपने प्राणों की आहुति दी है।
शहीद लेफ्टिनेंट कर्नल ऋषभ शर्मा और उनके परिवार के प्रति गहरी संवेदना व्यक्त करते हुए मैं नतमस्तक हूं। केंद्रीय राज्य मंत्री कृष्णपाल गुर्जर ने कहा शहीद ऋषभ शर्मा शहीद नहीं अमर हुए हैं उनके इस बलिदान को याद किया जाएगा। उन्होंने कहा कि शहीद ऋषभ शर्मा मूल रूप से फरीदाबाद के नाम से घरोड़ा गांव के रहने वाले हैं। घरोड़ा गांव में ही स्कूल बनाया जा रहा है जिसका नाम शहीद लेफ्टिनेंट कर्नल ऋषभ शर्मा के नाम पर रखा जाएगा।
