भाला फेंकने वाले नीरज चोपड़ा ने भारत के लिए स्वर्ण पदक जीता और ओलंपिक इतिहास में ट्रैक और फील्ड में एक कार्यक्रम में स्वर्ण पदक जीतने वाले पहले भारतीय एथलीट बन गए।
नई दिल्ली जीजेडी न्यूज ब्यूरो: ओलंपिक में स्वर्ण पदक जीतने वाले पहले ट्रैक और फील्ड एथलीट बनकर देश का नाम रोशन करने वाले नीरज चोपड़ा को गणतंत्र दिवस 2022 की पूर्व संध्या पर परम वशिष्ठ सेवा पदक से सम्मानित किया जाएगा। सेवा पदक (PVSM) भारत का एक सैन्य पुरस्कार है।
73वें गणतंत्र दिवस समारोह की पूर्व संध्या पर, राष्ट्रपति राम नाथ कोविंद ने सशस्त्र बलों के कर्मियों और अन्य के लिए 384 वीरता पुरस्कारों को मंजूरी दी है। इनमें 12 शौर्य चक्र, 3 बार से सेना पदक (वीरता), 81 सेना पदक (वीरता) और 2 वायु सेना पदक (वीरता) शामिल हैं।
भाला फेंकने वाले नीरज चोपड़ा ने भारत के लिए स्वर्ण पदक जीता और ओलंपिक इतिहास में ट्रैक और फील्ड में एक कार्यक्रम में स्वर्ण पदक जीतने वाले पहले भारतीय एथलीट बन गए।
भारतीय सेना में 23 वर्षीय सूबेदार हरियाणा के पानीपत का रहने वाला है। नीरज ने 2016 दक्षिण एशियाई खेलों में 82.23 मीटर तक भाला फेंक कर स्वर्ण पदक जीता था। इसके बाद 2017 में हुई एशियन एथलेटिक्स चैंपियनशिप में 85.23 मीटर की दूरी तक भाला फेंक में गोल्ड मेडल जीता।
नीरज ने 2018 राष्ट्रमंडल खेलों में 86.47 मीटर भाला फेंक कर स्वर्ण पदक जीता था। उन्होंने टोक्यो ओलंपिक से पहले इस साल मार्च 2021 में 88.06 मीटर के नए राष्ट्रीय रिकॉर्ड के साथ अपने सत्र की शुरुआत की थी।
