भारतीय फुटबॉल टीम के सहायक कोच षणमुगम वेंकटेश का कहना है कि मौजूदा टीम गेंद को ज्यादा से ज्यादा समय पर अपने पास रखती है और उसने 2018 विश्व कप क्वालीफायर के लिये खेलने वाली टीम की तुलना में कहीं ज्यादा सटीक पास दिये हैं।
एसएस न्यूज.दोहा। भारतीय फुटबॉल टीम के सहायक कोच षणमुगम वेंकटेश का कहना है कि मौजूदा टीम गेंद को ज्यादा से ज्यादा समय पर अपने पास रखती है और उसने 2018 विश्व कप क्वालीफायर के लिये खेलने वाली टीम की तुलना में कहीं ज्यादा सटीक पास दिये हैं।भारत पहले ही 2022 फीफा विश्व कप की दौड़ से बाहर हो चुका है लेकिन उसके पास अब भी 2023 एएफसी एशियाई कप क्वालीफायर के अगले दौर में पहुंचने का मौका है। वेंकटेश अपने खेलने के दिनों में सीनियर राष्ट्रीय टीम की अगुआई भी कर चुके हैं और उनका कहना है कि मौजूदा टीम ने कई चीजों में सुधार किया है।
उन्होंने अखिल भारतीय फुटबॉल महासंघ (एआईएफएफ) की आधिकारिक वेबसाइट से कहा, ‘‘पिछले विश्व कप क्वालीफायर – फीफा विश्व कप रूस 2018 क्वालीफायर – के 2015 में हुए पहले सात मैचों में तुलना की जाये तो मौजूदा टीम का गेंद पर दबदबा बनाने का औसत 10.2 प्रतिशत बढ़ गया है जो 39.8 प्रतिशत से 50 प्रतिशत हो गया है। ’’
वेंकटेश ने कहा, ‘‘पिछले क्वालीफायर के दौरान प्रत्येक मैच में पास करने की संख्या 338 थी जबकि मौजूदा टीम में अब ये बढ़कर 450 हो गये हैं। मौजूदा टीम की पास करने की सटीकता भी पिछले 74 प्रतिशत से बढ़कर 80 प्रतिशत हो गयी है जिसमें छह प्रतिशत बढ़ोतरी हुई है।’’
