हिमाचल प्रदेश चुनाव 2022: स्वतंत्र भारत के पहले मतदाता का 106 साल की उम्र में निधन, हिमाचल चुनाव के लिए मतदान के 2 दिन बाद
स्वतंत्र भारत के पहले मतदाता 106 वर्षीय श्याम सरन नेगी का शनिवार सुबह हिमाचल के कल्पा में उनके पैतृक स्थान पर निधन हो गया।
नई दिल्ली: हिमाचल प्रदेश के मुख्यमंत्री जयराम ठाकुर ने शनिवार को स्वतंत्र भारत के पहले मतदाता 106 वर्षीय श्याम सरन नेगी के निधन पर दुख व्यक्त किया।
मुख्यमंत्री ने हिंदी में ट्वीट किया, “स्वतंत्र भारत के पहले मतदाता और किन्नौर के रहने वाले श्याम सरन नेगी जी के निधन की खबर सुनकर दुख हुआ।”
स्वतंत्र भारत के पहले मतदाता एवं किन्नौर से संबंध रखने वाले श्याम सरन नेगी जी के निधन की खबर सुनकर दुःखी हूं।
उन्होंने अपना कर्तव्य निभाते हुए 34वीं बार बीते 2 नवंबर को ही विधानसभा चुनाव के लिए अपना पोस्टल वोट डाला, यह याद हमेशा भावुक करेगी।

स्वतंत्र भारत के पहले मतदाता 106 वर्षीय श्याम सरन नेगी का शनिवार सुबह हिमाचल के कल्पा में उनके पैतृक स्थान पर निधन हो गया। समाचार एजेंसी एएनआई ने किन्नौर के उपायुक्त की रिपोर्ट के अनुसार, पूरे राजकीय सम्मान के साथ उनका अंतिम संस्कार किया जाएगा। 1 जुलाई, 1917 को जन्मे नेगी ने 1951 से अब तक 16 बार लोकसभा चुनाव में मतदान किया है। वह 2014 से हिमाचल के चुनावी प्रतीक थे।
श्याम सरन नेगी ने पहली बार 25 अक्टूबर, 1951 को स्वतंत्र भारत के पहले मतदाता बने। भारत निर्वाचन आयोग ने निधन पर शोक व्यक्त करते हुए ट्वीट किया, “न केवल स्वतंत्र भारत के पहले मतदाता, बल्कि लोकतंत्र में असाधारण आस्था रखने वाले व्यक्ति। चुनाव आयोग ने श्याम सरन नेगी के निधन पर शोक व्यक्त किया। हम राष्ट्र के लिए उनकी सेवा के लिए हमेशा आभारी हैं।
आजादी के बाद भारत में पहला आम चुनाव फरवरी 1952 में हुआ था। किन्नौर में भारी बर्फबारी के कारण पांच महीने पहले सितंबर 1951 में चुनाव हुए थे। श्याम सरन नेगी उस समय किन्नौर के मूरंग स्कूल में शिक्षक थे। नेगी ने 14वें हिमाचल विधानसभा चुनाव के लिए 34वीं बार मताधिकार का प्रयोग किया क्योंकि उन्होंने 2 नवंबर को कल्पा में अपने आवास पर डाक मतपत्र के माध्यम से अपना वोट डाला।
प्रधानमंत्री मोदी ने बुधवार को युवा मतदाताओं के लिए प्रेरणा के रूप में उनकी सराहना की। उन्होंने ट्विटर पर लिखा, “यह सराहनीय है और युवा मतदाताओं को चुनाव में भाग लेने और हमारे लोकतंत्र को मजबूत करने के लिए प्रेरणा के रूप में काम करना चाहिए।”
डाक मतपत्र द्वारा मतदान 1 नवंबर को शुरू हुआ और 11 नवंबर से पहले पूरा हो जाएगा। हिमाचल विधानसभा चुनाव एक ही चरण में होंगे और मतदान की तारीख 12 नवंबर है। नामांकन दाखिल करने की आखिरी तारीख 25 अक्टूबर है और हिमाचल प्रदेश विधानसभा चुनाव के लिए वोटों की गिनती 8 दिसंबर को होगी।
