नई दिल्ली: पहली बार के विधायक भूपेंद्र पटेल ने सोमवार को गुजरात के 17वें मुख्यमंत्री के रूप में शपथ ली। शपथ ग्रहण समारोह में केंद्रीय गृह मंत्री अमित शाह शामिल हुए। गुजरात के राज्यपाल आचार्य देवव्रत ने भूपेंद्र पटेल को शपथ दिलाई। समारोह के दौरान केंद्रीय गृह मंत्री मनसुख मंडाविया और कृषि मंत्री नरेंद्र सिंह तोमर भी मौजूद थे। शपथ ग्रहण समारोह में गुजरात के पूर्व सीएम विजय रूपाणी और राज्य के डिप्टी सीएम नितिन पटेल भी शामिल हुए।
जैसा कि भाजपा सूत्रों ने पहले बताया था, केवल पटेल ने सोमवार को शपथ ली क्योंकि पार्टी द्वारा गुजरात के नए मंत्रिमंडल के बारे में निर्णय लिया जाना बाकी है। यह विधानसभा चुनाव से एक साल पहले विजय रूपाणी के अचानक पद से हटने के दो दिन बाद आया है। पार्टी का सीएम का चुनाव कई लोगों के लिए आश्चर्य की बात थी क्योंकि लो-प्रोफाइल, पहली बार के विधायक को इस पद के लिए शीर्ष दावेदारों में से नहीं देखा गया था।

कौन हैं भूपेंद्र पटेल?
अहमदाबाद में जन्मे, पटेल घाटलोदिया सीट से विधायक हैं, जो पहले पूर्व मुख्यमंत्री और अब उत्तर प्रदेश की राज्यपाल आनंदीबेन पटेल के पास थी। उन्होंने 2017 में 1.17 लाख से अधिक मतों से सीट जीती थी, जो उस चुनाव में सबसे अधिक अंतर था। घाटलोदिया गांधीनगर लोकसभा क्षेत्र का हिस्सा है जिसका प्रतिनिधित्व शाह करते हैं।
सिविल इंजीनियरिंग में डिप्लोमा रखने वाले पटेल ने अहमदाबाद नगर निगम पार्षद और अहमदाबाद नगर निगम और अहमदाबाद शहरी विकास प्राधिकरण की स्थायी समिति के अध्यक्ष के रूप में कार्य किया है। वह पाटीदार संगठनों सरदारधाम और विश्व उमिया फाउंडेशन के ट्रस्टी भी हैं। दिसंबर 2022 में होने वाले राज्य विधानसभा चुनाव के साथ, भाजपा पार्टी का नेतृत्व करने के लिए पाटीदार भूपेंद्र पटेल पर भरोसा कर रही है। 2017 के विधानसभा चुनाव में बीजेपी ने 182 में से 99 सीटें जीती थीं और कांग्रेस को 77 सीटें मिली थीं।
