तीसरे दौर में जोकोविच का सामना लिथुआनिया के रिकार्डस बेरनकिस से होगा। बेरनकिस ने दूसरे दौर के मुकाबले में ऑस्ट्रेलिया के जेम्स डकवर्थ को 7-5, 2-6, 7-6, 6-0 से हराया। जोकोविच इस सत्र में 25 मुकाबलों में 22 जीत चुके हैं। वहीं, टूर्नामेंट में सबसे उम्रदराज खिलाड़ी 39 वर्षीय फेडरर ने क्रोएशिया के मारिन सिलिच को हराकर तीसरे दौर में प्रवेश किया। फेडरर ने सिलिच को 6-2, 2-6, 7-6, 6-2 से हराया। फेडरर की यह सिलिच पर 11 मुकाबलों में दसवीं जीत है। तीसरे दौर में फेडरर का सामना जर्मनी के डोमिनिक कोएफर से होगी, जिन्होंने टेलर फिट्ज को 6-3, 6-2, 3-6, 6-4 से शिकस्त देकर तीसरे दौर में जगह बनाई है।

अमेरिका की युवा टेनिस स्टार कोको गौफ ने यहां जारी फ्रेंच ओपन के तीसरे दौर में जगह बनी ली है। गौफ ने पहली बार इस ग्रैंड स्लैम इवेंट के तीसरे दौर में जगह बना ने के लिए चीन की वांग कियांग को गुरुवार को 6-3, 7-6(1) से हराया। इसके अलावा एलिना स्वीतोलीना भी तीसरे दौर में पहुंच गई हैं। स्वीतोलीना ने अमेरिका की एन ली को एक घंटे 11 मिनट तक चले मुकाबले में 6-0, 6-4 से हराया। इसी तरह एक अन्य मुकाबले में ट्यूनिशिया की ओन्स जाबेर ने वाइल्डकार्डधारी एस्ट्रा शर्मा को 6-2, 6-4 से हराया। यूक्रेन की मार्ताज्ञ कोंटयुक भी तीसरे दौर में पहुंचने में सफल रही हैं। पहले दौर में गारबीन मुगुरुजा को हराने वाली कोंटयुक ने दूसरे दौर में चीन की झेंग साएसाए को 6-3, 6-4 से पराजित किया।
