बुधवार शाम को केंद्रीय मंत्रिमंडल के विस्तार से पहले, मंत्री पद के संभावितों ने यहां प्रधानमंत्री नरेंद्र मोदी से उनके आवास पर मुलाकात की। मई 2019 में दूसरे कार्यकाल के लिए पदभार ग्रहण करने के बाद से मोदी द्वारा उनके मंत्रिपरिषद में यह पहला फेरबदल होगा।

पीएम मोदी से उनके आवास पर मिलने वालों में बीजेपी के नारायण राणे, सर्बानंद सोनोवाल, ज्योतिरादित्य सिंधिया, अजय भट्ट, भूपेंद्र यादव, शोभा करंदलाजे, सुनीता दुग्गल, मीनाक्षी लेखी, भारती पवार, शांतनु ठाकुर और कपिल पाटिल, जद (यू) के आरसीपी सिंह शामिल थे। लोजपा के पशुपति पारस और अपना दल की अनुप्रिया पटेल।

सूत्रों ने कहा कि जी किशन रेड्डी, पुरुषोत्तम रूपाला और अनुराग ठाकुर सहित कुछ राज्य मंत्री भी थे और उन्हें पदोन्नत किया जा सकता है। भाजपा अध्यक्ष जेपी नड्डा, गृह मंत्री अमित शाह, रक्षा मंत्री राजनाथ सिंह भी वहां मौजूद थे। सूत्रों ने बताया कि कुल 43 नेता शपथ लेंगे। उन्होंने कहा कि नई मंत्रिपरिषद में चार पूर्व मुख्यमंत्री, 18 पूर्व राज्य मंत्री, 39 पूर्व विधायक, 23 सांसद होंगे जो तीन या अधिक कार्यकाल के लिए चुने गए हैं। केंद्रीय मंत्रिमंडल में 81 मंत्री हो सकते हैं।
जाति प्रतिनिधित्व के आधार पर, कैबिनेट में अल्पसंख्यक समुदायों के 5 मंत्री होंगे, (1 मुस्लिम, 1 सिख, 2 बौद्ध, 1 ईसाई)। नई कैबिनेट में 27 ओबीसी मंत्री होंगे जिनमें से पांच कैबिनेट रैंक के होंगे। 8 एसटी मंत्रियों में से 3 कैबिनेट रैंक होंगे। एससी बैकग्राउंड से कुल 12 मंत्री सरकार में शामिल होंगे, जिनमें से दो कैबिनेट रैंक के होंगे। कैबिनेट में 11 महिला मंत्री होंगी।
इस बीच, केंद्रीय मंत्री संतोष गंगवार (श्रम), रमेश पोखरियाल (शिक्षा), देबाश्री चौधरी (महिला एवं बाल विकास मंत्रालय के लिए MoS), सदानंद गौड़ा (रसायन और उर्वरक) ने शासन किया है। इससे पहले मंगलवार को केंद्रीय मंत्री थावरचंद गहलोत को कर्नाटक का राज्यपाल नियुक्त किया गया था। गहलोत के पास सामाजिक न्याय और अधिकारिता मंत्री का पोर्टफोलियो था।
बहुप्रतीक्षित विस्तार मोदी सरकार के सात साल पूरे होने के बाद करीब आता है। वर्तमान में, 21 कैबिनेट मंत्री, नौ स्वतंत्र प्रभार वाले मंत्री और मंत्रिपरिषद में 23 राज्य मंत्री हैं।
