रोड रेज केस: सुप्रीम कोर्ट ने 3 दशक पुराने मामले में नवजोत सिंह सिद्धू को एक साल जेल की सजा सुनाई थी

नई दिल्ली/जीजेडी न्यूज: कांग्रेस नेता नवजोत सिंह सिद्धू को 1988 से रोड रेज के एक मामले में गुरुवार को सुप्रीम कोर्ट ने एक साल की जेल की सजा सुनाई थी, जिसमें एक व्यक्ति की मौत हो गई थी।
पंजाब कांग्रेस के पूर्व अध्यक्ष को पहले शीर्ष अदालत ने ₹1,000 के जुर्माने के साथ छोड़ दिया था। सुप्रीम कोर्ट ने पीड़ित परिवार की ओर से दायर एक याचिका पर सुनवाई करते हुए सजा का दायरा बढ़ा दिया था।
पिछले महीने, शीर्ष अदालत ने उस याचिका में अपना आदेश सुरक्षित रख लिया था जिसमें पूर्व मंत्री के लिए गैर इरादतन हत्या, या यहां तक कि हत्या जैसी कड़ी सजा की मांग की गई थी, न कि सिर्फ चोट पहुंचाने के लिए।
क्रिकेटर से नेता बने इस क्रिकेटर ने शीर्ष अदालत को बताया था कि “यह दिखाने के लिए कोई निर्णायक सबूत नहीं है कि एक मुक्का मारने से 65 वर्षीय व्यक्ति की मौत हो गई”। उन्होंने पीड़ित परिवार पर मामले को फिर से खोलने के लिए “दुर्भावनापूर्ण प्रयास” करने का भी आरोप लगाया था।
“कोई निर्णायक सबूत नहीं है कि आरोपी की चोट के परिणामस्वरूप व्यक्ति की मृत्यु हुई, क्योंकि इस बात का कोई सबूत नहीं था कि मौत प्रतिवादी द्वारा एक ही झटके के कारण हुई थी (यहां तक कि यह मानते हुए कि घटना हुई थी), इस माननीय अदालत ने सही निष्कर्ष निकाला कि यह धारा 323 आईपीसी के तहत आएगा, ”सिद्धू द्वारा अदालत के समक्ष दायर हलफनामे को पढ़ें।
