आज पूर्व प्रधानमंत्री अटल बिहारी वाजपेयी की दूसरी पुण्यतिथि है। इस अवसर पर राष्ट्रपति रामनाथ कोविंद, उपराष्ट्रपति वेंकैया नायडू और प्रधानमंत्री नरेंद्र मोदी ने उनकी समाधि ‘सदैव अटल’ पर जाकर उन्हें श्रद्धांजलि दी।

प्रधानमंत्री नरेंद्र मोदी ने अपने ट्विटर अकाउंट पर पूर्व प्रधानमंत्री अटल बिहारी वाजपेयी की फोटोज का एक वीडियो सांझा किया। मोदी ने उसमे लिखा कि अटलजी की पुण्यतिथि पर उन्हें श्रद्धांजलि। अटलजी के बेहतरीन कार्यों और देश को तरक्की दिलाने के अथक प्रयासों को भारत हमेशा याद रखेगा।

अटलजी तीन बार प्रधानमंत्री बने
25 दिसंबर 1924 को मध्य प्रदेश के ग्वालियर में जन्मे अटलजी प्रधानमंत्री बनने वाले बीजेपी के पहले नेता थे। 1996 में वे मात्र 13 दिन के लिए प्रधानमंत्री बने थे। 1998-1999 में 13 महीने उनकी सरकार चली। इसके बाद अटलजी पूरे 5 साल के लिए प्रधानमंत्री बने।
प्रधानमंत्री बनने से पहले अटलजी 1977 में मोरारजी देसाई सरकार में विदेश मंत्री भी रहे थे। अटलजी के समय 11 और 13 मई 1998 में पोखरण में परमाणु परीक्षण किया भी गया था।
