जस्टिस एन वी रमना शनिवार को देश के 48वें मुख्य न्यायाधीश बने. राष्ट्रपति रामनाथ कोविंद ने उन्हें पद की शपथ दिलाई. बताते चलें कि जस्टिस एन वी रमना का CJI के रूप में एक साल और चार महीने का कार्यकाल होगा, वह 26 अगस्त 2022 तक इस पद पर बने रहेंगे. जस्टिस रमना ने CJI एसए बोबडे की जगह ली है। CJI जस्टिस बोबडे 23 अप्रैल को रिटायर हो गए। बोबडे ने ही जस्टिस रमना के नाम का प्रस्तावित राष्ट्रपति को भेजा था।

जस्टिस एन वी रमना आंध्र प्रदेश हाईकोर्ट के पहले ऐसे जज हैं, जो CJI बने हैं। जस्टिस एन वी रमना 26 अगस्त 2022 को रिटायर होंगे। यानी उनका कार्यकाल दो साल से कम बचा है। नवंबर 2019 में जस्टिस बोबडे ने 47वें सीजेआई के रूप में शपथ ली थी। जस्टिस रंजन गोगोई के रिटायरमेंट के बाद जस्टिस बोबडे को CJI बनाया गया था।

जस्टिस एन वी रमना का जन्म 27 अगस्त 1957 को आंध्रप्रदेश के कृष्णा जिले के पोन्नवरम गांव में हुआ था। 10 फरवरी 1983 को उन्होंने वकालत की शुरुआत की। 27 जून 2000 को वे आंध्रप्रदेश के हाईकोर्ट में स्थायी जज के तौर पर नियुक्त हुए। जस्टिस एन वी रमना को फरवरी 2014 में सुप्रीम कोर्ट का जज नियुक्त किया गया था। जस्टिस एन वी रमना ने 10 फरवरी 1983 को वकालत के साथ करियर की शुरुआत की थी।
