कांग्रेस नेता मल्लिकार्जुन खड़गे ने समाचार एजेंसी एएनआई के हवाले से कहा, “आलाकमान ने सोच-समझकर फैसला लिया होगा। वह युवा हैं और एक सक्रिय सांसद थे। उनके पास काम करने का जोश है इसलिए हम इसका स्वागत करते हैं।” वह पंजाब में संकट को हल करने के लिए कांग्रेस आलाकमान द्वारा प्रतिनियुक्त तीन सदस्यों में से एक थे।
रविवार को नियुक्ति के बाद सिद्धू से मिले पंजाब कांग्रेस विधायक निर्मल सिंह शुत्राना ने कहा कि अब सब कुछ ठीक हो जाएगा।शूत्राना ने एएनआई के हवाले से कहा, “हाईकमान ने जो फैसला किया वह 100% सही है। कोई परेशान नहीं है, सब ठीक हो जाएगा।” उन्होंने कहा कि मुख्यमंत्री कैप्टन अमरिंदर सिंह को सिद्धू को उनकी नियुक्ति पर बधाई देनी चाहिए थी।
