मंत्री ने कहा कि इंदिरा गांधी अंतरराष्ट्रीय हवाईअड्डे पर पहुंचने पर कई अंतरराष्ट्रीय यात्री कोविड-19 से संक्रमित पाए गए हैं। उन्होंने कहा, “ऐसे आठ लोगों को आज (गुरुवार) अस्पताल में भर्ती कराया गया। जैन ने मंगलवार को कहा था कि कोरोना वायरस का ओमिक्रॉन वैरिएंट अब तक समुदाय में नहीं फैला है और स्थिति नियंत्रण में है लेकिन मामले बढ़ रहे हैं। जैन ने कहा कि एलएनजेपी में ओमाइक्रोन के मरीजों के लिए 40 बिस्तरों वाला एक समर्पित वार्ड था जिसे अब देश भर में मामलों में वृद्धि को देखते हुए बढ़ाकर 100 कर दिया गया है।
उन्होंने कहा कि ओमाइक्रोन पॉजिटिव मरीजों की हालत स्थिर है। अधिकारियों ने कहा कि ओमिक्रॉन संस्करण का दिल्ली का पहला मरीज – रांची का एक 37 वर्षीय व्यक्ति – दो बार सीओवीआईडी -19 के लिए नकारात्मक परीक्षण करने के बाद सोमवार को छुट्टी दे दी गई। उन्होंने 2 दिसंबर को कतर एयरवेज की फ्लाइट से तंजानिया से दोहा और वहां से दिल्ली की यात्रा की थी। वह दक्षिण अफ्रीका के जोहान्सबर्ग में एक सप्ताह तक रहे और उनमें हल्के लक्षण थे।
नए मानदंडों के तहत, “जोखिम में” देशों से आने वाले यात्रियों के लिए आरटी-पीसीआर परीक्षण अनिवार्य हैं और परिणाम आने के बाद ही उन्हें हवाई अड्डे से बाहर जाने की अनुमति दी जाती है। साथ ही दूसरे देशों से फ्लाइट से आने वाले यात्रियों में से दो फीसदी का रैंडम तरीके से टेस्ट किया जा रहा है।
