नई दिल्ली/जीजेडी न्यूज: एनडीए के सर्वसम्मति से उप-राष्ट्रपति पद के उम्मीदवार और पश्चिम बंगाल के पूर्व राज्यपाल जगदीप धनखड़ के पक्ष में भारी संख्या के साथ, शनिवार को अपने प्रतिद्वंद्वी, संयुक्त विपक्षी उम्मीदवार मार्गरेट अल्वा पर जीत की उम्मीद की जा रही थी। दिन भर के मतदान के बाद, धनखड़ ने पूर्व केंद्रीय मंत्री पर एक अच्छी बढ़त बना ली और अंतत: क्रूज होम तक ले गए।

भौतिकी में स्नातक की पढ़ाई पूरी करने के बाद, उन्होंने राजस्थान विश्वविद्यालय से एलएलबी किया।

पहली पीढ़ी के पेशेवर होने के बावजूद, वह राज्य के प्रमुख वकीलों में से एक बन गए। धनखड़ ने राजस्थान उच्च न्यायालय और भारत के सर्वोच्च न्यायालय दोनों में अभ्यास किया है।
1989 के लोकसभा चुनाव में झुंझुनू से सांसद (सांसद) चुने जाने के बाद उन्होंने सार्वजनिक जीवन में प्रवेश किया।
इसके बाद, उन्होंने 1990 में संसदीय मामलों के राज्य मंत्री के रूप में भी कार्य किया।
1993 में, धनखड़ अजमेर जिले के किशनगढ़ निर्वाचन क्षेत्र से राजस्थान विधानसभा के लिए चुने गए। बाद में, जुलाई 2019 में, उन्हें पश्चिम बंगाल का राज्यपाल नियुक्त किया गया।

यह ध्यान दिया जाना चाहिए कि उपराष्ट्रपति का चुनाव संसद के दोनों सदनों के सदस्यों से मिलकर एक निर्वाचक मंडल द्वारा आनुपातिक प्रतिनिधित्व प्रणाली के अनुसार एकल संक्रमणीय मत के माध्यम से किया जाता है और ऐसे चुनाव में मतदान गुप्त मतदान द्वारा होता है।
उपराष्ट्रपति के पद के लिए किसी व्यक्ति का चुनाव करने के लिए इलेक्टोरल कॉलेज में संसद के दोनों सदनों के सभी सदस्य होते हैं।
