सूत्रों ने खुलासा किया कि दोनों पाकिस्तान स्थित एक हैंडलर उमर अल मंडी के संपर्क में थे, जो उन्हें राज्य में अपनी नापाक योजनाओं को अंजाम देने का निर्देश दे रहा था। वे आपस में संवाद करने के लिए मैसेजिंग चैट ऐप टेलीग्राम का इस्तेमाल करते थे।
एटीएस टीम को उनकी मौजूदगी के बारे में गुप्त सूचना मिली थी और पिछले एक हफ्ते से वह उन पर नजर रख रही थी। अंत में, टीम ने उनके स्थान पर बंद कर दिया और दोनों को काकोरी के एक घर से गिरफ्तार कर लिया, जो एक शाहिद का है। घर से अब तक दो प्रेशर कुकर बम, एक डेटोनेटर और 6 से 7 किलोग्राम विस्फोटक बरामद किया गया है। बम निरोधक दस्ते को मौके पर बुलाया गया और आसपास के घरों को खाली करा लिया गया।
